FAQ
What is a Virtual Office Assistant?
A Virtual Office Assistant (VA) is classified as an independent contractor, not an employee or a temp. VAs are small business owners who, like any other business owners, define their success by customer satisfaction. You outsource work to your VA. VAs work out of their own offices (using their own office equipment) utilizing today's technology to deliver services and communicate with clients. VAs want to establish long-term working relationships with you. VAs pride themselves on becoming a part of your company and are interested in helping your small business succeed. They want to get to know you and your business in order to work closely to meet your business and office support needs --- only as-needed by you. VAs work on a project or hourly basis or you may be interested in putting a VA on retainer for your business needs throughout the year. Education levels of VAs vary, but as a general rule they are normally well educated and have a multitude of hard skills and experience in office management and computer systems and software. VAs come from a variety of business backgrounds, but the single-most important qualification to become a VA is at least five (5) years administrative experience earned in the real (non-virtual) business world working in upper level capacities such as administrative assistant, executive assistant, secretary, legal assistant, paralegal, legal secretary, real estate assistant, office manager, etc. Remember, a VA can help you grow your business by freeing your time to concentrate on your "big picture". When you use the services of a VA, you are investing in your business growth!
